A farmer from North Nierteti camp for the displaced has been murdered and her daughter and mother seriously injured in an attack by armed herders on their farm near Nierteti in Central Darfur on Wednesday.

The UN Special Representative for Sudan, and head of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes, has appealed to the international community support efforts to implement the Juba Peace Agreement, and provide security to the Sudanese public.

The Director of the Immunisation Department of Sudan’s Ministry of Health, Ismail El Adani, says that arrangements have been made to receive and facilitate storage doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, with the installation of refrigerators that can keep the vaccine at the required minus 70 to minus 80 degrees Celsius.

A joint force comprising regular Sudanese forces and contingents from the parties to the Juba Peace Agreement, was officially launched by the Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minawi in El Fasher yesterday. This initial joint force will form the nucleus of a larger force designed to protect civilians in Darfur, as stipulated in the agreement.
