Sudan releases more detainees, but many still captive

Sudan has released another batch of activists, politicians, and civil society leaders, held after the October 25 coup, however several remain in detention despite the clause in the political agreement signed in Khartoum last week by Gen Abdelfattah El Burhan and Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, that stipulates the release of all political detainees.

Suspect COVID-19 med equipment seized in Sudan

Medical equipment to combat the COVID-19 pandemic has been seized from several factories in Sudan, on suspicion that they do not comply with standards and health requirements. Inspectors say they encountered some cases where equipment was being handled ‘in a very poor environment’.

Sudan police, intel chiefs sacked after protest carnage

Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok has issued a directive relieving the Director General of Sudan’s police, as well as his deputy, from their positions with immediate effect. The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Gen Abdelfattah El Burhan has similarly relieved the Director of Military Intelligence, and the Director of General Intelligence from their positions.

Police uses excessive violence to disperse Nov 25 Marches of the Millions

The November 25 Marches of the Millions kicked off in Khartoum and all other state capitals yesterday to honour the people killed during the anti-coup protests and to reject the military coup and the political agreement between Lt Gen Abdelfattah El Burhan and Abdallah Hamdok. Security forces used excessive violence to disperse the crowds.
