Demo deaths prompt outrage in Sudan and abroad

Renewed protest marches took place in various locations in Sudan on Tuesday, after three protesters were killed and 30-40 injured when security forces opened fire during the March of Millions on Monday. International response has condemned the continued violence against demonstrators.

Darfur lawyers decry detentions in Sudan

The Darfur Bar Association and its partners condemned the detention of Badreldin Siddig, lawyer and member of the resistance committee active in the Sheikh Abu Zeid neighbourhood adjacent to the Libya Market in Omdurman, and Abdelmajeed Arbab, Coordinator of the Libya Market Unit, and other activists.

Women’s rights leader detained in Sudan capital

The head of Sudan’s No to Oppression of Women initiative, Amira Osman, was detained during a raid by security forces in her home in Khartoum in the early hours of Sunday morning. Her detention has prompted condemnation from within Sudan, as well as from the United Nations mission in the country.
