Employees of the Sudanese Ministry of Industry in Khartoum began a strike on Monday, demanding improvement in work conditions and a pay raise. Tax office staff and South Kordofan government employees also began a strike on Sunday.

Sudan is witnessing temperatures much lower than usual as a cold weather front is moving across the country. Schools in North Kordofan will start later in the day as temperatures can drop to 10 degrees at night.
